Blog Life – Take One

This summer I had a kickass party to celebrate our country’s independence. I purchased a keg of my favorite beer, Aspen Brewing Company’s Independence Pass Ale (I.P.A.)

We had a rooftop slip and slide, big, fat bone-in ribeyes, lobster, cute dogs, cute chicks, some true rebels and a few squares.

The debauchery of this party coupled with me smuggling my dog into a “not dog-friendly apartment” has landed me in a new and much better place for the winter.

(Side note: EVERYONE in that complex has a dog. My homie that used to live in that exact apartment had a dog. My babygirl, Chooli was raised there, partially. The landlord is despicable and the property manager is my arch enemy.)

I digress. After throwing this party I funded almost exclusively, I proceeded to clean up the apartment, also exclusively.

The one thing I asked for help with was a ride to return the keg.

I ended up bagging this set-up and skateboarding the thing back.

After leaving the taproom, I had very little time to shower, get ready for work, and skate over.

I was approached by a young guy I didn’t know who asked for five minutes of my time. I asked that he be true to his word. He assured me he would.

I assumed he would try to sell me something. In actuality, he was a student of photography that needed portraits for a project. I threw a backside pop-shove it and he caught me mid-air. That’s the featured photo.

When I received the photo, I wrote this:

“Never betray your truth, even if it means embracing the fact that it’s ugly occasionally. If you trust it, and keep the rest of the world from abusing it, it will shine one day. The world will see. They’ll all see.”

I don’t know what you expect to get out of my blog, but I vow to write the truth, or as close as I can come to it through my perspective.

I have a lot to say. We’ll cover skateboarding, food, music, poetry and travel, and we’ll do it with style.

I appreciate constructive criticism, but I will not tolerate heckling or hateful language.

I’ll leave you with a favorite Jay-Z quote:

“Only God can judge me, so I’m gone. Either love me, or leave me alone.”
